Community Guidelines

Effective Date: May 22, 2026
Last Updated: May 22, 2026

What Givore Is For

Givore is a free-giveaway community. People share items they no longer need, items they have found in public spaces, and items they are looking for. Nothing on Givore is for sale. These Community Guidelines explain what kinds of items and content are welcome — and what is not.

These Guidelines complement the Terms of Service; you must comply with both. Violating these Guidelines may result in removal of the content, suspension of your account, or, for serious or repeated violations, permanent account termination.

Items You May Share

Givore is built for ordinary household and community items, including:

  • Furniture, decor, kitchenware, small appliances
  • Books, toys, games, sports equipment
  • Adult clothing, shoes, accessories
  • Garden items, planters, tools
  • Electronics in working condition
  • Surplus or unopened food clearly within its expiry date

Items should be functional, safe, and legal to transfer in your jurisdiction.

Items You May NOT Share

Givore explicitly prohibits posting, listing, soliciting, or arranging the handover of any of the following. Categories are mapped to the in-app report reasons so moderators and reporters share a common vocabulary.

Prohibited Items

  • Weapons and ammunition — firearms, knives intended as weapons, replicas, airsoft, pepper spray, ammunition, blunt-force weapons. (Report reason: illegal item)
  • Drugs and controlled substances — illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, recreational substances. (Report reason: illegal item)
  • Prescription medication and medical devices — even unopened, sharing prescription medication or regulated medical devices is unsafe and illegal in most jurisdictions. (Report reason: illegal item)
  • Recalled or unsafe products — items recalled by manufacturers, regulators, or safety authorities; items with known defects creating safety risks. (Report reason: inappropriate content)
  • Perishable food without clear dates — opened food, food past its expiry date, home-cooked meals shared outside food-bank channels, raw meat or dairy without refrigeration logistics. (Report reason: inappropriate content)
  • Live animals — pets, livestock, wildlife. Animal welfare regulations require dedicated channels (vets, shelters, rescue organizations). (Report reason: inappropriate content)
  • Hazardous materials — chemicals, solvents, fuels, asbestos, lead-based paint, batteries that are damaged or leaking, fireworks, pesticides outside approved channels. (Report reason: illegal item)
  • Counterfeit goods — fake branded items, copies, knock-offs, replicas presented as authentic. (Report reason: fake)
  • Stolen goods or items of unclear provenance — items you do not lawfully own; items found in places where they are likely to belong to an identifiable owner (e.g., delivered parcels, municipal property, items inside private property). (Report reason: scam)
  • Illegal services or unlicensed services — any service for compensation, services requiring professional licensing (medical, legal, financial), tutoring offered as a sale. (Report reason: selling not allowed)
  • Adult or sexual content — pornography, sexual services, items intended to be sexually explicit. (Report reason: inappropriate content)
  • Child-endangering content — any content sexualising minors, content portraying child abuse, recruitment of minors. Such material is reported immediately to authorities. (Report reason: inappropriate content)
  • Items requiring CE marking, certification, or safety inspection being shared without that certification — infant car seats, motorcycle helmets, climbing equipment, electrical installations. (Report reason: inappropriate content)
  • Tobacco, vaping products, and alcohol — regulated for sale and free transfer in most jurisdictions. (Report reason: illegal item)
  • Items advertised for sale — anything posted with a price, requested as a trade, or as a paid service. Givore is free-only. (Report reason: selling not allowed)
  • Personal data, identity documents, financial credentials — passports, ID cards, banking cards, cryptocurrency wallets, account credentials. (Report reason: scam)

How You Must Behave

  • Be honest. Photos must show the actual item. Descriptions must be accurate. Do not misrepresent condition, ownership, or location.
  • Be civil. No harassment, abuse, hate speech, discrimination, or threats. (Report reason: harassment)
  • No doxxing. Do not publish other people's personal information (addresses, phone numbers, full names without consent, photos of identifiable people without consent).
  • No spam or duplicate posts. Do not flood the community with repeated, irrelevant, or promotional content. (Report reason: spam / promotion)
  • No impersonation. Do not pretend to be someone else, including businesses you do not represent.
  • Respect copyright and trademarks. Do not post material you do not have rights to. See "Reporting Copyright Infringement" in the Terms of Service for the takedown procedure.
  • Meet safely. Always meet in public, well-lit places. Trust your instincts. Bring someone if possible. Givore is not a party to handovers and cannot guarantee safety — that responsibility is shared between the people meeting.

Lawful Ownership and Transfer

You may only post items that you lawfully own, possess, or have authority to give away, and that may be lawfully transferred to another person. You are solely responsible for confirming that the item is yours to give and that giving it is legal where you are. This is particularly important for:

  • Items found in public spaces — many municipalities consider abandoned items to belong to the municipality or the original owner until a finder's-rights process is completed.
  • Items found in private spaces — items left in shared property, courtyards, or storage may still belong to an identifiable owner.
  • Construction debris, demolition materials, and bulky waste — typically regulated by local waste-disposal law.

When in doubt, do not post.

Reporting and Enforcement

Inside the Givore app, every post, profile, comment, idea, image, and chat element has a Report option. Reports go to our moderation team. We review each report and, depending on the severity, may remove content, restrict accounts, or, for serious or repeated violations, permanently terminate accounts.

We act on reports manually. Manual review is part of how we enforce these Guidelines and does not imply that we have pre-screened or endorsed any user content. Our role is that of an intermediary hosting platform; the responsibility for content rests with the person who posted it.

For urgent safety or child-protection concerns, contact [email protected] directly and contact your local emergency services where appropriate.

Repeat violations: Accounts that repeatedly violate these Community Guidelines or the Terms of Service may be suspended or permanently terminated. We keep internal records of moderation actions for the purpose of enforcing this policy.

Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time to address new patterns of misuse, regulatory changes, or community feedback. Updates are posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. We recommend checking back occasionally.
