Givore is a free app for giving away things you are done with. You post an item, somebody nearby asks for it, and they come and collect. Nobody pays anybody. It works for a bag of sweaters, and it works for the desk you never sit at.
All four of these work. They cost you different amounts of effort, and they end in different places.
Fastest of the four. You drop the bag and walk away. You will never know where any of it went.
Good for volume, and they sort things properly. You do have to get there during opening hours, bag in hand.
Warm and very local. Joining takes a while, posts scroll past quickly, and volunteers carry the whole thing.
You photograph the bag and a neighbor comes to your door for it. Sorted by distance, not by who shouted first.
The usual one. A photo, a line of description, and where you are. It takes about half a minute.
You say what you need instead. A winter coat in a size 12, a bookshelf under four feet tall.
Half the things in a closet are invisible until somebody asks. A request reminds people what they have.
Pull out the coat you have not worn in two winters. Somebody a few blocks away is cold.
